I dont think girls are obliged to wear abayas, however they just do. Sometimes, while living in Qatar, I would meet a Qatari woman not wearing a black abaya, it is their choice. It does help to distance themselves from the huge expatriate community in Doha.

@Orlabobz dunno if everyone agrees with this reason, but a teacher (from libano) told me this: woman are forced to wear the full outfit so the strength of the tradition isn't lost, is they allowed woman to dress different on the streets, little by little the tradition would be lost and they would be the same as the occident.
as said, i don't know if everyone agrees with this reason or if it is even correct.
but in my opinion, woman look gorgeous with the burkas too, like mysterious and wise.

0,0 her hijab (i think that's the name of the long dress) is beautiful, even if it simple, i love it.
im not muslim but i like the message of Fulla, the woman are more that one body for show.
