In April 2006 Volunteer Centre Westminster established the VolEmploy Mentoring Scheme.
The objective of the scheme is to enable refugees to improve their employability and in so doing fulfill their potential in the job market.
This is achieved through a structured programme of one-to-one mentoring where the emphasis is on empowering the individual.
Beneficiaries of the scheme are encouraged to identify their long term goals and are then given the help, support and advice that they need to achieve them.
In addition to empowering refugees to find employment, numerous, wider ranging benefits have emerged...
The scheme encourages social integration through a flourishing multi-cultural network, it challenges negative perceptions of refugees and creates a powerful and enriching experience for refugees and their mentors.
