On Thursday I was very busy, taking care of my family and finishing a recording session, when I saw very briefly that Pete Quaife of the Kinks had died. I didn't have time to process it until I was performing at my regular Thursday night sunset show in Hawaii Kai. I sang a couple of songs in his honor, and managed to capture it with a Flip that was in my music bag.

  • Well, it's a dinner spot, and not a gathering of Kinks fans. It's background music. This performance was mostly for myself, since I was feeling the moment.

  • thanks for the Kinks moment from Hawaii (the real paradise)

  • Great tribute Jim...! - Frank

  • @pgrabar I love live music, but one of the frustrations of going to live music, especially in a bar, is people talking through the music. It drives me, as a listener, crazy. I can't imagine how it affects the performer. How do you do it, Jim?

  • Very nice tribute to Pete Quaife...but what's with the audience? Talking during the songs, then not clapping when they're over...wtf?
