i want to cry while listening to this because of 2 things: truly lyric and generally beautiful song
-
I like how he sings the dramatic line "I've changed
But I'm in pain!"
-
Beautifully and insightfully articulated, mate!

I'd tend to say this song is about prescribed roles in society, how you're ostracised for not fitting in and expected to 'grow up and be a man' even when it isn't you. So you try to fit their standards and you might be able to manage it for a while, but ultimately it's a tiring act and a thin veneer. All the things they didn't like about you are still there and show through, but because you've hidden them under a false visage, who you really are is shameful to you and thus unaccepted by them.
This track is hugely underrated.

"And you find that you've organised your feelings for people who didn't like you then and do not like you now". Ain't that the truth?
