Like Judy Garland, Billie Holiday was amused by her public image as some sort of tragic figure forever drunk and forever drugged. She actually was always impeccably groomed and gowned, gave great care in selecting and sequencing her songs and loved working with great musicians. I've talked to many people who worked with her and they say she knew exactly what she wanted musically and was not some out-of-it character. She loved people and loved conversation.

I was just speaking to my aunt in Sweden and she mentioned seeing Billie during this tour. I've been a fan for 45 yrs, since i was13 ...Billie was the real deal. Thank you so much Nigel... you have immaculate taste.

its amazing that the elephant in the room is what gave her the voice to sing, to get to us... but it also is too sad for me to hear when she speaks. I pray she has found peace wherever she is. We love you Lady
