For some reason the plumes worn by musicians in the Irish & Coldstream guards are that of a SNCO's feather hackle.
Does anyone know the reason behind this?
The only regiments where there is no plume distinction between Other Ranks & NCOs are the Grenadier & Scots guards. Previously the same applied to the Welsh Guards as well, but their SNCOs now wear a feather hackle, however their band still wears ORs horse hair hackles.

@drummajor2000 The Coldstreamers' plumes are fat and wide, much larger than the other regiments, the Grenadiers seem to be the smallest.

Why are the Coldstreamers' plumes bigger than the others ?

The best that I ever saw, thank you so much.Hugs
A guardsman has a slim, short plume., the sergeants bigger and the biggest are for the officers of course.
