An impression of a week in London in 2008. Massed Bands on their way to Horeseguards Parade. Beating retreat, Changing of the Guards, The Chelsea Pageant with life guards, Honorable Artillery Company and of course the pensioners. Further the aftermath of the pageant in Chelsea

  • For some reason the plumes worn by musicians in the Irish & Coldstream guards are that of a SNCO's feather hackle.

Does anyone know the reason behind this?

The only regiments where there is no plume distinction between Other Ranks & NCOs are the Grenadier & Scots guards. Previously the same applied to the Welsh Guards as well, but their SNCOs now wear a feather hackle, however their band still wears ORs horse hair hackles.

  • @drummajor2000 The Coldstreamers' plumes are fat and wide, much larger than the other regiments, the Grenadiers seem to be the smallest.

  • Why are the Coldstreamers' plumes bigger than the others ?

  • 2:18 The March of the King's Men (D.J. Plater)

  • Mmmmm, what a nice march; but don't know its name...

  • The best that I ever saw, thank you so much.Hugs
