In 1986, Norma Jean was a convicted felon- because she annoyed the LAPD with the book she was writing and was arrested and charged with one count of pandering, But she didn't go off to prison quietly- she ran for Lt. Governor of California on the Libertarian Party ticket. While she didn't win the election, she did get over 100,000 votes. Unfortunately she went to prison and spent 18 months with the Manson Family Women and other real criminals... but she never gave up writing her book, Cop to Call Girl, which was published by Simon and Schuster in 1994 and in paperback by Avon in 1995. She remains a sex worker rights activist and continues to write and lecture on this important issue.
