The Washington Post cancelled Chess Grandmaster Lubomir Kavaleks Online Chess Column this month, and I would like you to write an email and send it to the Post at letters@washpost.com (their letter to the editor through email) asking them to reconsider their decision.

Mr. Kavaleks contributions to the chess world are impressive, and having chess columns in various forms of media is important for the game we all love. Other notable publications that continue to have chess columns include the New York Times online, for example. They have a column called "Gambit" by Dylan McClain.

Feel free to post what you sent the Washington Post in the comment section below. Hopefully Mr. Kavalek will get his column back. If he does I will be removing this video so that the Washington Post doesnt receive unnecessary emails in the future.

  • As much as I sympathize with Mr Kavalek's situation, I simply do not read the Washington Post, nor do I ever intend to start. Is that really fair for me to go begging them to bring him back?

  • You should check out his online chess columns, they're quite good and definitely worth adding to your online chess browsing sites. There's a link to one in the comment section.

  • Hi i just want for you guys to reconsider your cancellation of grand master kavaleks and to let you guys know Hispanics do care about chess not only sensationalism or shocking news

  • maybe he should write for other papers more worth readin, its always sad to see the media becoming more and more dull.

  • if blacks knight took the pawn on e4 when it was undefended, all white had to do was move the rook over 1 space 2 the left and white would gain the material back and have a better position.

  • you are so right!!

  • @ThugstompURface He resigned.. , he would have ripped his pawn positions open pretty soon

  • It would probably be better if we all wrote our own . . . it would look more like genuine concern if we took the time to word it ourselves.

  • Black can take the pawn on e4. The opening then becomes and "Open Ruy Lopez" . It is just a matter of choice.

  • yeah I am writting an email too

  • @Bananayoghurt1000 more about skill but being intelligent can't hurt your chances:D

  • Jrobi, You play on FICS, they offer Fischer Random, any chance we can see some vids of you playing that? it would be interesting the analysis without opening theory.
