The shapes are taken very literally from the Halston playbook. The only thing that is new are the fabrics.

You are giving Marc Jacobs too much credit for creativity by calling it "bizarre". His designs are not inventive enough to be "bizarre". Most of it is very wearable. Marc Jacobs is just not commercial or dull enough to be like an American designer. He is an honorary French master. French designers push the envelope more often.
