'Super Sleuths Agatha Christies Poirot' from 2006 pays tribute to Christie and gives an insight into the creation and adaptation of her little Belgian detective from page to the small screen.
This reminds me of Monk, except Poiroit was more confident! I loved them both. To use your analytical powers to solve crime is fascinating. Thanks for putting this on you-tube
(2) writers, producers or director, instead of it being dark & brooding, it was.....uuum smh. even so ledger was the best joker. #3 Holmes had been portrayed in a movie series by Basil Rathbone. i thought Basil's performance was superior 2 all others i'd seen, that is until i saw Jeremy Bretts. his was superb, simply GENIUS. so 2 say its unfair 2 compare long running makes no sense 2 me. if u say some1's the best, but not seen other versions, thats unfair, but, just m.o., others have their own
(1) to say 1 cant compare a movie portrayal 2 a long running series portrayal is crazy. now, whats being said is that Suchet had a longer time 2 perfect the character, but no #1. from the 1st episode he hasnt deviated from his method, its the same portrayal that was done from the start. #2. the t.v. version of the Joker in Batman was a long running series, but Heath Ledgers performance was superior, hell even Jack Nicholson did a better job. Now i know the atmosphere of that series was due 2 the
GREAT JOB DAVID SUCHET! -you Definitely are the ONLY Poirot!
You are Amazing when you transform into that character. So Odd to see you without the infamous mustache. Loved the classic episodes with Hastings and Ms. Lemon and Japp! I only just recently discovered Poirot myself. And I can't wait to solve some more crimes! I just live for the Denouement of the story! It will be an Honor display this series in my personal library.
Ustinov has had too many comedy roles, buffonish renditions, to carry a good Poirot. He is also too big, for those who developed a sense of Poirot from the stories as short, small even, though a bit fat. But to be fair to all the actors, one can't compare a long series to a single movie version of a well-known fictional character. Much like the Jeremy Brett version of Sherlock Holmes vs others.
I think is simply a question of time, Suchet, who respect very much the work of the others Poirots, have more time to create the character. For me it is impossible to compare the technique of Ustinov, Finney and Suchet, different actors, Suchet had a kind of commitment, support the character for several chapters and many seasons trough the years, he worked with his voice, with the accent, even with his pace. Being Poirot and, at the same time, to continue with his career, big merit for me.
I have to say this . . . I have nothing against David Suchet's portrayal of Hercule Poirot. It's excellent. I cannot deny this. But I do get sick and tired of this belief that he is the "ultimate" screen Poirot, or that everyone believes that he is the ultimate Poirot. Why? Because I am one of those who believe otherwise.

@DRush76 I have to agree. I adore Suchet in this role but i also like Sir Peter Ustinov as Hercule Poirot.
