Marking anti-animal experimentation group Uncaged's 12th Global Day of Action against Proctor and Gamble (P&G), who test on animals and brands include Daz and Fairy, Animal Rights Cambridge headed to Tesco and ASDA to express their point of view.

Protesters headed to Tesco in Cambridge, some stayed outside to leaflet whilst others entered the store and filled trolleys with P&G products before heading to the front of the store securing the trolleys with locks and beginning to chant.

They went on to ASDA where the reaction from staff was all together more hostile, a campaigners banner was ripped by an employee and 2 activists were forcibly ejected from the store. This action from ASDA added to the spectacle the protest created and sympathetic shoppers stopped for a leaflet after seeing the employees' behaviour.

Boycotting household products that are tested on animals is something we can all do to take a stand against needless violence. For a list of P&G products see http://www.uncaged.co.uk/pgproducts.htm For more on Animal Rights Cambridge http://animalrightscambridge.bravehost.com

  • @belloworld They are clearly trying to hide behind good PR as they do on the animal rights issues. Thanks for posting this!

  • @AnimalRightsCamb "Data from one species cannot be applied to another" Saying that has just utterly discredited your view. You pretend you understand the situation but you have just demonstrated that you don't even get the basics.

"it was done because of possible harm found in other animal studies – it is a self-perpetuating industry" That's an inevitable consequence of the fact that we are still learning what harms us! Your lack of understanding is all that leaves space for your conspiracy.

  • @MrMonkeyspanner No it is you who lacks understanding. See the Safer Medicines Campaign who are a group of scientist and doctors that argue against animal research purely on human health grounds: curedisease (dot) net

  • I think the people that do animial teasting are modern day Natzi,s.How can they go home after work and face there families?????. They are heartless cowards and i would like to test them.

  • @MrMonkeyspanner Such tests will only show if the compound is harmful to rodents not humans. There are human relevant research methods that should be employed. See Safer Medicines site.

  • @AnimalRightsCamb "There is no circumstances where further animal testing is acceptable" Only because you refuse to accept and understand where and how it is used. You are full of misconceptions, you haven't yet stated an unadulterated fact related to the science! Tell me, if something on the BUAV list is later proven, through animal testing, to be harmful to children, will they keep it on the list out of principle or stand there as hypocrites?

Think before you claim having solutions!!!

  • @AnimalRightsCamb "Scientists that don't profit from animal research or work for places that do now say animal test are unreliable" Even in established text books, even in the damned Huntingdon labs they still say that! There is always some level of reliability. No-one does it for fun. Its ALWAYS the least preferred option. Unfortunately, like in the study you cited, either we risk deformed babies through ignorance or do a study once on some rats. Its a no brainer if you understand it.

  • @MrMonkeyspanner You are starting to become annoying now – if there is one statement we have made that is false point it out. You have failed to point to one statement that we have made that is false.

  • @MrMonkeyspanner No it was done because of possible harm found in other animal studies – it is a self-perpetuating industry. Scientists that don't profit from animal research or work for places that do now say animal test are unreliable. Please check out the Safer Medicines Campaign for more.
