More footage around Tonbridge station and shed in the 1950's. Plenty of the inevitable H class tanks on Push-Pull workings, a bevvy of Bulleid Q1 0-6-0s, the ubiqitious Maunsell Moguls and mighty Bulleid Pacifics all put in an appearance. The clip ends with a pair of contrasting 4-4-0s, an ex-South Eastern & Chatham Railway D1 No.31487 and and an ex-Southern Railway Schools (V Class), in this case No.30929 'Malvern'.
That's how it was in those days. I'm not condoning unsafe working practices but the health and bloody safety has evolved into a lucrative industry more concerned with perpetuating its own existence than in mediating danger in the workplace.
