When the Sun Forgets to Shine (Chapter 1) (Part 1)

hey so here's the first chapter of the new story! yay! lol.
so i picked famous people to play the boys and lacey lol just so you know. Tricia picked David Henrie and then Mitchel Musso is Jonathan, they're both on the Disney channel so i'm gonna assume you know who they are lol. Slade Pearce is kinda random but he was the only kid around that age that i could think of (he's actually 13 or something but he can pass for 10) he was the kid in the ABC show October Road and the movies Yours Mine and Ours and Air Buddies, and he was in a GREAT episode of House. so yeah. then madison is demi lovato's little sister but we're pretending she's not if Demi's in the story later (which i think she probably will be lol) so yeah. the ages don't work out right in real life but pretend with me, it's fun lol. that's all i think you need to know, so to the story!

{Jocelyn's P.O.V.}
"Jillian, I'm serious, get out of bed," I said, starting to get agitated as I walked into her room for the 3rd time that morning. The other 2 girls, whom she shared the room with, had long since gotten up. Lacey wasn't even in the room anymore, and Cheyenne was busy getting ready.
Jillian just moaned and rolled over.
"Okay, I'm gonna go check on everybody else. If you're not up when I get back, we're gonna leave without you, and you can deal with your principal."
"You know, he'll be mad at you too," she mumbled.
"Yes," I said, bending over to pick up the laundry, "but he can't do anything to me. I'm not one of his students anymore."
"Fine," she moaned, reluctantly sitting up. "You happy now?"
"I'd be a lot happier if you got ready. Cheyenne, don't put on too much make up, you're only 15."
"You're so lame," she mumbled from where she was standing at the mirror. She had chosen to leave her blond hair wavy that day even though she normally did something with it. She, like all my sisters, except Lacey of course, towered over me, and I cursed the fact that I got my mom's short gene while everyone else got dad's tall one every day.
"I'm just looking out for you, hon."
"Well, I wish you'd stop."
"Judge told me I had to," I said and walked out of the room. See, I was only 20, but I was responsible for my 6 younger siblings. Yes, 6. Jillian was 17, Matthew was 16, Cheyenne and Jonathan were 15 (twins but looked NOTHING alike. they were probably the most opposite of all the siblings), Cameron was 10, and Lacey was 6. Our mom had died in child birth with Lacey. Our dad had to work long hours, so he wasn't around much, and I was pretty much responsible for the younger ones already. Then, just after my 18th birthday, my dad died in an accident at his factory. I knew my siblings would get split up and scattered if they went to foster care, so I took them. It wasn't easy. I had to prove to children's services that I could do it, and they were just then finally getting off my back some. I couldn't go to college, so I got a job at a local sports arena because it was what I could get. The pay wasn't great, but we were also getting support from Dad's old factory and had some savings, but those were going fast. But we managed, and we were together, and I told myself that was worth it.
When I stepped into the hallway, I saw Lacey, sitting on the floor, crying quietly. "Aw, Lace, what happened?" I asked, dropping the laundry in the basket and going to pick her up.
"Cameron hurt me," she whined.
"Cameron Hoyt! get out here!" I yelled.
His somewhat awkward looking 10 year old head popped out from behind the door to the boys' room. "You rang?" he inquired, trying to hide the guilt in his face, but I could see through his act, always could. He still had that cute factor about him, and his slightly bucked and split front teeth helped him along with that, but I had learned early after he started talking not to fall for it.
"Yes, I did. What did you do to your little sister?"
"What? I didn't do anything to her."
"Liar!" Lacey yelled.
"I'm gonna have to go with Lacey on this one," I added.
"Fine, I may have accidentally hurt her."
"Accidentally, sure," I said skeptically. "Lace, what happened?"
"He pushed me over and took my cookie!"
"No!" I said, overacting my disbelief.
"Yeah."
"Cam, apologize to your sister."
"Sorry, Jojo."
"Haha, funny, not to me, twerp."
"Fine, god, no sense of humor. Sorry Lacey."
"All right, everything's all good now. Cameron, you ready for school?"
"Am I ever ready for school?"
"Okay, get you and your smart mouth ready and get downstairs."
"Fine." He disappeared back into the boys' room.
