The Imposing Rose

This short film was shot for the 2010 24 hour LDS Film Festival event. The theme was "Charity", the object was a rock, and the tag line was "I am the one who..." This was a fun project to do in the short amount of time that we had. The film got a good response at the screening on January 21st, 2010. 50 films were submitted in all. All were outstanding films! My hats off and congrats to the other entries!

"The Imposing Rose" takes place in a future time when society is in a state of absolute conformity to a government rule. When a husband steps out of the boundries to do a charitable act for his wife, he learns a lesson in maintaining the strict rules set forth for the citizens to follow.

Is this a political film? Not really. It originated as a fun little sci-fi story that was rolling around in my head for years. However, it does say something about things that are good, that are made to appear evil or wrong, and vise versa. How far are we willing to go as a society to reverse our morals, values and standards? Are we capable of going too far?

  • "President Smith then stated that the meeting had been called, because God had commanded it; and it was made known to him by vision and by the Holy Spirit. . . . it was the will of God that they should be ordained to the ministry and go forth to prune the vineyard for the last time, for the coming of the Lord, which was nigh — even fifty six years should wind up the scene." (History of the Church, Vol. 2, page 182).FLDS/LDS Prophet Joseph Smith in 1835. The fifty-six years were passed by 1891

  • Um, dude, its a sci-fi film. Your babble doesnt have much to do with it. Ohhh, I see, its an "I hate mormons and need to save them from themselves" statement. Lovely. Im ever-so enlightened.

  • interesting. very intersting!

  • Well, quite the beginning to a science fiction thriller. It kept me on the edge. Fun.

  • Deuteronomy 18:22 (King James Version) 22 When a prophet speaketh in the name of the LORD, if the thing follow not, nor come to pass, that is the thing which the LORD hath not spoken, but the prophet hath spoken it presumptuously: thou shalt not be afraid of him.

  • Very nice work! I agree that it was a great 24 hour festival and tip my hat to all the films... Our team did "The Rock of Charity". I love how such different ideas can come from the same guidelines. Keep up the wonderful work!

  • yea make some more i don't like cliff hangers

  • I want to see more too! I think this is a great introduction to a larger story!

  • You know, the crew enjoyed filming it so much that we actually thought of doing more story. There are so many ideas that can be expounded on from this and filmed in the same simplistic manner. Who knows....im going to have to think about doing that! Thanks for watching!
