what a musician.... But why the singer ghost got into him..? he tries to copy here Ustad Amir Khan saab's Darbari..., it's almost an apology..... What happened to him by his Gayaki ang....only alla knows? He never realized nobody will remember him as a singer.... but who will tell him that?

I met Ustad Vilayat KhaN sahib in Pinceton about 10 years ago. A real saint. I consider myself very fortunate to have touched his feet and received his blessings.He was not a showman but a true musician who had inherited a long legacy. His Gharana and contributions to music will live for ever.
So was Pt Kishan Maharajji... What a great Loss for the music lovers.

t's pretty strange to say that Vilayat Khan and such stalwarts were "best of their generation." Let's not forget that he great ones such as Khansaheb express the full rasa matrix of Darbari Kannada, particularly the veera and shanta rasas. The modern renditions by some just making complicated meends full of sentimantalism (too much karuna rasa) and sargams (not real taans)\do not make it Darbari.Because of thisVilayat Khan,Amir Khan,Bade Ghulam Ali Khan are great for any generation,
