Perhaps not with a pendulum, but any tactic to break through a person's logic in attempt to influence their decision making process can be considered a form of hypnosis - or in another phrase, mind control.
Perhaps you prefer blackmail, or extortion as more accurate words to describe the goal of the "free stress tests" offered by nearly every location in the world?

I went the the communication course and the last step was to show up the next day for an auditing session. Never went back, what I went through was bizarre enough and I knew I was going to be pressured again after the auditing session. These people I believe are just trained to become sociopaths.

The "recreation" of auditing is horseshit. Could they make it sound more hypnotic" Jesus! That is NOT how auditing is delivered but THIS video gives a false interpretation to make viewer think auditing is hypnosis. It is not.

Or the Church may have told him to stop, assuring him it will piss us off if he goes silent and ignores us. If Suppressive People cannot be reasoned with via harrassment etc.. then you separate from them... even if they are your family. that's just another reason to destroy $cientology.
