Kashmir pandits live in peace - 25 May 08

Almost two decades have passed since fighters drove many Hindus from their homes in the disputed area of Kashmir. Despite those attacks, some Pandits, as they are known, remained in the Kashmir valley. Today, the region provides an example of how Hindus and Muslims can live in harmony. Matt McClure, Al Jazeera's correspondent in India reports on how many of those who fled the violence are being urged to return.

Many Kashmiri Pandits are returning and will return. I talked to some, some of them are still worried due to external and internal propaganda to prevent their return. But most are confident and are returning and will return to their Maej Kasheer.
