During his 'South American' period Ray Conniff recorded several songs composed by Brazilian "King" (that's how the local people call him) Roberto Carlos. Actually, this hauntingly beautiful "Café da manha" was recorded by Ray Conniff already back in 1981 (Album : "Entre Amigos") but in the year 2000 Ray decided to "re-do" all the Roberto Carlos tunes and give them a slightly different arrangement. The version you'll be listening to here was taken from the 2000 album which in fact was a real tribute to Roberto Carlos and it's album title "do Ray para 'O Rei" ("From Ray, For the King") was therefore quite appropriate. When a great composer "meets" a great orchestrator and arranger..... "something magical" is about to happen ..... That's exactly what the listener gets to hear : pure magic.
From the 2000 album "do Ray para o Rei" here's the fabulous Ray Conniff with his Orchestra and Singers, bringing you "Cafe da manha". Enjoy !
