To set things straight about this song. I used to play and write music for Rick James. "In My House" was originally performed by Val Young - Google her name. Benny Medina, then head of A&R at Motown told Rick to give it to the MJG's because they needed a hit for their 2nd album. Rick had JoJo re-sing the lead and background vocals. I know because I was in the studio at the time. Jojo did 99% of all singing. I still have Val's version on tape somewhere, will try to post it.
Correction, The song "in My House" was written by Rick during a sound check according to several Stone City Band members. The first version was done by Rick, then Eddie Murphy, a couple of others. This song was not written for Val Young. This is a lie being put out by Val among other lies. This is the truth about the song.
You are wrong and you don't know the truth. Period. I was there in the studio, I played keyboards on it. It was written for Val Young and the Boys. I was part of the Boys and later Rick decided to make Val a solo act. Ask Rick's brother Leroi Johnson, ask the engineer Tom Fly, as the 2nd Engineer Mr. Bill, ask the guitar player Kenny Hawkins, Jerry Livingson the bass player , ask Levi, all confirm that it was written for an sung by Val Young. What ever beef you have with Val is your problem.
No, You are wrong.Their was no Val Young and the Boys. It was a Process and The Doo Rags. None of the individuals you named have every stated this song was created for Val and never will. Again this song was created by Rick for Rick during a sound check at a show. Guess you weren't there. This is a "PIPE" dream lie that Val puts out to try and now whoever you are. If Val and you are upset that the truth is being told about the song tell Rick when you see him he should of gave her the song first.
