This Southern Stingray was feeding at the sand flat between the main wall and the mini wall at Eden Rock/Devil's Grotto. The noise you are hearing is the sound of the engines of 4 cruise ships and their tenders- talk about deafening! We are using our Closed Circuit Rebreathers and it was very loud, I can't imagine how it affects the wildlife. Because we emit no bubbles and make very little noise, we are able to approach creatures that normally would not stick around for open circuit(SCUBA) divers. The Southern Stingray scans the ocean floor detecting electromagnetic pulses released by all living creatures. It sifts the sand to get to the creatures hidden below. The Bar Jack turns almost black when it is feeding, and they commonly follow rays around the sand looking for an easy meal. The whining sound you hear at 0:16 is me trying to get my husband's attention because I found a 3-inch-long juvenile Peacock Flounder. I approached it with my finger and as soon as it swam away, the Jack was trying to eat it, hence why the Jack goes to the right of the screen. No, the Jack did not eat the juvenile Flounder!
