So adding ram to a laptop = super geek?
Man when you learn how to clean the fan you must fancy yourself a god

i have 2G ram and a late 2007-2008 model macbook pro, i consistently only have maybe imovie, skype, safari (5 tabs open) and itunes running and literally have like 15 MB of free ram left during that time. for the movie/graphic work that i do what would be the best ram type to get upgraded? or is it the processor? (2.26 GHz intel core duo) please respond.

@MrApplehelper Go to crucial.c0m and go to "Memory (RAM)" at the top, then click on scan my system.

how do i find out which type of ram i need?
-
@jehdesai change the ram like jehdesai said, 1+1 or 2+2 or 0.5+0.5 never different ones together same as pc :)

your laptop seem to have a lot of issues to boot up. it has nothing to do with your ram but the cache. I have a 2Go and its a lot quicker than your 4Go because I clear all the cache... use Onyx its free and its great at cleaning stuff at the back that your not always aware of :)
Very nice...
I'm looking to upgrade my MacBook's memory pretty soon - it's gotten to be really slow, to the point where I get the SBOD pretty much whenever I click on something while multitasking. Not good when I usually have somewhere over 20 tabs open in Safari, plus Photoshop, iTunes, Mail, and everything else, haha.
So, when did you get your MacBook? Mine's a late 2007, right after Leopard was introduced, with a 2.2ghz Core 2 Duo, and 1GB of RAM.
Now, off to test my boot-up speed!

Hi cherrybomb
I think mine is late 2007 too. Running 2Ghz core duo (came running Leopard originally but now upgraded to Snow Leopard)
I can still recommend you to upgrade to 4GB, I still find my Mac very stable and much more useable since I upgraded in August and I have not seen any slow down. If you can afford to upgrade the RAM it will be a great investment.
Let me know how it goes :)

Great this is just what I wanted to see. Well worth the upgrade. I wonder if Motion would run on it with 4GB of mem.

What are you running now? (RAM wise) 4GB of RAM certainly will help.
If I have noticed one thing apps like photoshop and iMove run a lot more smoothly and tend to be less glitch. Let me know if you decided to upgrade and how you find it :)
