Chinatown, Honolulu is a popular shopping destination for both locals and tourists. It's hard to beat the low prices for fruit, fish, meat and veggies. Shops open early in the morning and close early in the afternoon. But what is Chinatown like at night, when the shoppers are gone? My friend offered to take me to a place where there's fun and free food after dark. Sounded good, so off we went...

  • I didn't name the market because the pressure from the video would make them clean up their act. At this point, the story has been covered very thoroughly in the press (visible if one Googles).

The Hawaii Dept of Health still will not authorize overtime, so no nighttime visits to the other markets have or likely will take place. So there's nothing saying that the rat problem was confined to one market, just that they're the ones who left their lights on at night in front of an open window.

  • The first 10 seconds I thought it was fresh live fish moving on the counter :)

  • unless we know which place this is it is impossible for us to boycott them without boycotting everyone in the region, which isn't fair for the shop owners who do make an effort to control the rat problem. please reply

  • it would be so easy to prevent all rats .. why the owner doesn't take the simplest of precautions i don't know. I'm not going to ask the government to fine them, i just wont buy from them anymore, and that will hurt their business much more.
