My Caribbean Fusion performance from the 2011 One World show at the University of Guelph.
This was shot on my boyfriends High definition camera this was my first time seeing my dancing this clearly ever, lol its like putting on contact lenses. Whole new perspective!
This is my 4th year dancing and my 4th year dancing in this show. The 2008 One World was actually my second performance ever. Thank you to the ISO for inviting me back.
Anyway improvisation as usual. I selected/mixed the music the day before. In my next life I will be more organized, or at least I hope I will be lol!
Music is as follows
Burn It Up (Reggaeton) by R. Kelly ft Wishin Y Yandel
Congo Line by Byron Lee and the Dragonaires (Soca)
Hot Wuk by Mr. Vegas (Dancehall)

NOTE: before anyone decides to lecture on how this isn't "bellydance" and tell me that it isn't appropriate .. I KNOW! I haven't labelled it that, nor would I label it that. It's caribbean fusion. I KNOW it isn't bellydance, I don't think it is. And furthermore I don't feel like hearing how a "bellydancer would never use a wide leg stance like that" or "Shake their butt at the audience". I bellydance and I do caribbean styles as well. I'm entitled to that! No one said you had to like it or watch it. And I'm tired of hearing bellydancers complain that they aren't strippers and no one takes them seriously yet they are so quick to judge other ethnic dance genres and deny them the same respect that they so fervently fight for.

  • Are you seriously dancing to one of the songs that got you your start here on YouTube? I even see you using one of the exact same moves you used in that video. <3

    Beautiful as always.

Thank you so much:) Really glad that you enjoy my dancing!

  • Wow!! That was fantastic! Great technique allied with great fun. I think that you make it look so easy that people who don't know belly dance very well don't even realize how difficult and perfect some things you do really are.
