"I was waiting in the express lane with my twelve items or less…" Source: 1984's "Midnight Star" from the album "Weird Al" Yankovic in 3-D

Cute point. However, that's not so much ironic as tongue-in-cheek: it IS called the #-items-or-less line, ergo he "was waiting in the express lane with [his] twelve items or less at the checkout counter at the local grocery store" :)

Besides, "or less" flows way better in that string of lyrics than "or fewer" does.

irony:2.Happening in the opposite way to what is expected, thus typically causing wry amusement.

    I'm pretty sure it's irony.

Epic! I laughed so hard I got stomach cramps but at least I have stronger abs now. Maybe laughter is the best exercise.

My personal lexicon is quite antiquated. Resulting in confusion amongst the more obtuse of my peers. I would detest that the degradation of grammar in society will eventually lead it to its intellectual ruin. As such, I have been proactive in maintaining coherence with the selection of my words. For example, it has been duly noted that the word "like" has been absent from my selected index of words. In employing that particular word as filler it has become an idiosyncrasy amongst young adults.

More futile arguments. And why not? Why should anything on YouTube just be about enjoyment?

Dictionaries record popular use of language. The popular use changes. When enough people use language in violation of a rule, it will be recorded by dictionaries as a valid exception to that rule.
