Im almost only practicing this technique these days, makes playing standard fingerstyle so easy in comparison. It is possible to play this groove with standard fingerstyle.

Im using thumb, index and middle fingers only

NB: Just realized that in the slow version, im changing the rhythm a bit on the sliding parts in bars 2 and 4 , please listen to the normal version for correct timing.

  • I hope you don't go down this road too much. Its a tricky technique. For the punters that love you, you may lose some.

  • Well, i intend to go down this road a lot (not necessarily on all my youtube videos), but i cant see how that would "scare" of people:-D

  • Great technique Marlowe... it's very similar to the old blues players (Albert Collins etc). Hybrid style. I've never tried it but i'm going to start now after watching how funky you make it sound! Thanks

  • Albert Collins is my favorite blues player, so yes;-)

  • I came.

  • @blunt1 you be crazy this is some funk ass shit. I love it. on my 3rd day of practicing it. finally getting somewhere.

  • Good work man! Outstanding technique. I love it!

  • I originally played like this (though my fingers are a little more parallel in terms of the strings) and then stopped because all the other bass players in high school told me it was retarded. But now I've switched back and it's amazing how much better it feels! Nice to see someone else out there with similar technique.

  • great "work" man! (hate to consider playing as work)

could u post the tabs or notes or send them to me? that'dd be awesome ;)

    greetings from leipzig
