  • Great stuff. The tempo is quicker than most but not as fast as Bernstein. Thank you for posting this example of a truly remarkable young and developing talent.

  • Perfect tempo, IMHO...

  • @byte1964 I agree. I think it's a combination of the orchestra itself, the audio recording and just the fact that it's an outdoor concert. I'm a huge fan of Dudamel and think under most circumstances he will bring out the best in each musician and the best in the music he's conducting. There are *so many* videos of him conducting various pieces that I've watched and thought "This is the very best I've ever heard this played". This certainly doesn't live up to that standard, but it's not him.

  • I find most performances of Dudamel with SBSOV really outstanding and very moving, Shostakovich's 10th at the Proms, but also Mahler's 2nd are among my favourites, however in the case of this recording either because the audio is quite bad or something else that I can't properly explain the orchestra seems rather "cold". It's just a personal feeling, as I said the poor quality of the audio affects very much the overall impression. The bottom line is a decent yet not unforgettable result.

  • The IPO is hardly a world-class orchestra. Poor Dudamel. As for ntnstern's comments. Insofar as I am concerned she's the clown. Probably upset that Gustavo is the only one on the platform with an intact willie.

  • @yapaleiov Then why is it not the best in the world. I must say it almost sounds as good as the Simon Bolivar Symphonic Orchestra of Venezuela.

  • What a disaster-I suffer with the poor IPO-they work really hard to ignore this clown with the baton-good old times as great conductors as Bernstein performed with this first class orchestra-compare this recording with the fantastic performance Bychkov made with the WDR orchestra-and you will see the difference between a world class conductor and a learner!!!

  • @rustymunga Yes. They are all jewish.

  • Wow, stunning right from the get-go!

I love all the talk about tempo. One person says most others slower, one says this is perfect, and another saying this isn't fast enough.

  • trumpet solo at rehearsal 108 suck

  • that wasn't Shostakovich. Something like "this b***h didn't give me yesterday? wtf wtf wtf la re la wtf wtf wtf la re la wtf la re la re la re la WTF la re la re la re la RE LA RE LA F*CK!
