Man, I've been scouring the net far and wide to see the techniques used by Kazuo Oga and Miyazaki's background paintings. Gouache seems to be the most similar thing to the poster paint they use here in the US, unfortunately I can't find any books on how to pain with it or even the techniques to employ while using it.

I think you did a superb job with this painting! And to think you're going to use it for a background. I only wish I could see what you are going to put in the foreground.

now here is a mana right after my own heart. well done! pretty close to the miyazaki style. i love studio ghibli for all it's fine art. i am also working on a few matte paintings as well. since you live in the netherlands, you must know Michel Dudok de Wit?
