  • Hm...maybe you should explain the difference between nerds, geeks, and dorks. There are differences, you know. Huge ones. With all sorts of hybrid/mixes. I'm sure you could find that somewhere if you don't already know.

  • ...All you younglings, with your World of Warcraft, may not realise this, but tabletop roleplaying games (played with rule books, pencils and character sheets, dice, miniatures, etc) were the precusor to computer roleplaying games. And Dungeons and Dragons, first released in 1974 as a supplement to Chainmail, is the game you have to thank for many of the fantasy games that followed.

Dave Arneson and Ernest Gary Gygax, may they both rest in peace at the great big GenCon in the sky!!!

  • HEY!! I know I'm a noob but isn't that the girl from sourcefed??

  • @blackbarnz Thanks! =)

  • ...It is currently in its 4th edition, with a 5th edition in production and about to be playtested by the tabletop RPG community. 4th edition D&D divided a lot of people, due to its streamlined rules, its lack of backwards compatibility with 3.5 edition, being heavy on combat and light on roleplaying, etc. A lot of tabletop roleplaying gamers are now playing "Pathfinder", which is basically 3.75 edition of D&D under a different name and by a different publisher (Paizo).

  • Dungeons and Dragons is a tabletop roleplaying game, played with rule books, polyhedral dice, character sheets, miniatures. It was first published in 1974 as a supplement to Chainmail (a medieval miniatures wargame). By the late 1970s, it became a game in its own right with the release of (Advanced) Dungeons and Dragons 1st edition. Dungeons and Dragons inspired other tabletop RPGs, Ian and Steve of "Games Workshop", and countless video games (without D&D, there may have been no WOW)...

  • @gwriterk Nerd; from Knurd spelled backwards - drunk... a Nerd is an anti-drunk or "square"...

Geek; a technical minded individual with no concern for social presentability or conformity...

Dork; a whale penis, something that Geeks and Nerds refer to each other as affectionately (see also; Dude, which is a camels dong, or dudes which is a camels vag - but also an urbanite individual or a friendly chap).

  • @ZoneofA CCGers.... no wait Menko/Pogs players are the definitively most knurd-iest... XD

  • @blackbarnz huh, I did not know that. Thank you!

  • RPG players are not the nerdiest, LARP players are :P
