Anita Skorgan was a superstar in Norway during the 70s and 80s but is fairly unknown in the rest of the world, save for her effort in the, ehem, Eurovision Song Contest.
Skorgan was a child star, both as an actress and classical pianist and debuted on record in 1973 - at the age of 15 - with an ep titled "Four Classical Piano Pieces". Her pop debut followed a few years later with the 1975 album "Til En Venn" (To a Friend).
Featured on this now very rare album is a cover of Swedish 70s popster Ted Gärdestad's beautiful "Jag Vill Ha En Egen Måne" (which should tranlate to something like: I wish I had a moon of my own).
This song has always been a guilty pleasure of mine and I must admit that I have fallen in love with Skorgan's youthful and somewhat rigid performance that makes up this Norwegian version of it. I find it charmingly catchy and sweetly restrained and that's often what make a good pop record.
She has always been my favourite singer
