The DREAM Act

Durbin discusses why he wrote the DREAM Act. The DREAM Act would allow a select group of immigrant students with great potential to contribute more fully to America. These young people were brought to the U.S. as children and should not be punished for their parents' mistakes. The DREAM Act would give these students a chance to earn legal status if they: 1) came to the U.S. as children (15 or under), 2) are long-term U.S. residents (continuous physical presence for at least five years), 3) have good moral character, 4) graduate from high school or obtain a GED, and 5) complete two years of college or military service in good standing.

What about expanding the number of skilled migration visas? We need workers who will contribute to society, not depress wages and contribute to a new underclass. Focus on awarding visas to foreign students who obtain 4-year or advanced degrees in fields like mathematics, science, engineering, or medicine. Low-skill immigrants create breed resentment, contribute to crime and depress wages of the most vulnerable.

The only benefit these students get is to plan and live their dream.. to have the american dream. Live like u. have the opportunities u have. they dont want a free ride or any benefits. they want to have that feelings people like you probably have never treasured and appreciated. Besides no one is putting them before anyone.

None of these students have ever gotten recognition and might never get it for their achievements because of thoughts like yours. What opportunities? the fact that they might have the chance to live and reach their dreams. most of these students grew here too just like u, did the same thing as u. but can they do anything about it?? Undocumented here, never thought a piece of paper would severely impact my life...

All my friends are in college and some starting to earn 3 figure salaries wile I struggle to keep up with the rent yet the GOP attacks me solely for political gains, I don't even know if life is worth living anymore.
