Beautiful! I don't know why the story of Peter and Assumpta affects me so profoundly. I think it may be because the ending is just fundamentally wrong, not merely because I wish it were different, but because it doesn't make any sense in light of how they lived their lives and what they stood for and struggled against, AND the message conveyed by the writers throughout the 3 seasons. It was a cheap, convenient way out when Stephen & Dervla wanted out, but it sends an entirely wrong message!

Great show, but only the first 23 episodes are worth watching. Once the Assumpta/Peter storyline ended, the show, for all intents and purposes, ended.
