Sootch, noticed I have the same SOG tool and M16 knife in my small survival kit I keep in my Jeep. I wanted to mention, that while the Maxpedition stuff looks great - it seems pricey taking into account the stuff is made in Taiwan. I prefer to stick with made the USA gear of this type.

Oh, one more tip. Swap your green paracord with the bright neon variety. Easier to see, especially in dark. If you need to leave breadcrumbs for whatever reason (for yourself or others), cut off a couple inches at a time and tie them to branches. You could even take multiple colors and if you had some sort of coding system, you could communicate with others in your party. Red/red/blue means emergency, need medical help. Or whatever.
