@JustAintthatWay I remember watching Plank power cleaning a pair of 100lb dumbells for 23 reps on a sports newscast with Johnny Morris in Chicago. Power cleaning is like curling the weight except you bend your legs when lifting the weight. Go pick up a 100lb dumbell and you realize why Plank was able to hit so hard.
i remember plank and fencik .........man when they played..... watching my tv , it got very "dark"..... it was scary as a 15 year old.......all i knew was i loved it ....
He must have been revered- they named the "46" defense after his jersey #. He played high school football with my Uncle at Norwin High School, North Huntingdon, Pa.
"What Doug Plank does borders on fanticism. I'm aggressive, but I'm no fanatic." - Jack Tatum
Tatum thought Doug Plank was the craziest, baddest motherfucker who ever stepped onto a football field.
For years, I sat at the very top of the north end zone with my cheap-ass season tickets. I vividly remember Plank making tackles that sounded like death being dealt. Not that usual helmet clashing crack, but that deep, ominous thud that sounded like the life being taken from someone.
leaving comments is so cool you do then forget about 'em then
someone comments back and you get to go back and see cool tubes again ...

@tommieturner23 as far as all time bears
walter will always be #1
hampton just may be #2 (that #2 spot race is
about a 10 way minimum photo finish too close to call (choose)
but plank ... well he'll just be '46' it's only the coolest defensive
scheme ever thought up! no need to be '1' or '2'
we loved plank the guy was simply deranged on a football field
not out of control deranged d-e-a-d-l-y deranged
he seems as cool off the field too long live #46
and thnx for the 'tube
