Italy Returns Parthenon Marbles to Greece

Good news for the supporters of the campaign to return the Elgin Marbles to Greece. The AP reports that Italian authorities restored to Greece a marble sculpture originally from the Parthenon. Lord Elgin took the now returned statue from the Parthenon in the early 1800s, and gave it to an Italian friend on his return trip to England. The Vatican has also agreed to return two Parthenon Marbles in its own possession. This gesture by the Italians sparks hope that the rest of the collection now residing in London will be returned.
