Again, many thanks. Only we real FOLLIES lovers - and especially those of us who missed out on the original - can know what seeing this means. We can't go back and see that first show but we can feel it, thanks to Mitch.

Gene Nelson still had it in '71/'72 during the original "Follies" run! I still love his work in the film version of "Oklahoma!" too. God bless him and all the "Follies" originals who are no longer with us. To survivor, John McMartin I can only say "Cent' Anni!" (may he live 100 years for those who do not understand Italian).

Gene Nelson was just brilliant! The best in the business! Did you know that he was elected to the broadway dancers' hall of fame their very first year? Thank you so much for this clip.

See, this is why I wish I had a time machine...oh, to have seen this live! If there are still performers out there who can move like this, I want to know who they are. ;) Thank you for postiing this wonderful clip!

I second this emotion. I just saw Gene Nelson in "Tea for Two." which was made in 1950, and he dances just as well in this clip--over twenty years later! A pro.

This is amazing.
I LOVED Gene Nelson. His last show was a production of 42nd Street, in San Jose, CA, at my high school in 1994. This series of video was almost like all of the conversations I had with Gene. He became like a grandfather to me and a mentor. I am a theatre director due mostly to him and what he taught me. He was an amazing man. I'll never forget him dancing onstage (which he claimed he no longer liked to do) before rehearsal, working out dance steps...beautiful.

@jmhicks27 What a lovely post. Thanks for that.
A few questions: What was his involvement with your production? Did he direct it? How old was he at the time?

The silent, dubbed footage has been floating around for years. I isolated this number, Who's That Woman, and Lucy/Jessie and posted them here on YouTube.
