The use of "manorexia" is simply a gimmick to get guys to pay attention to the issue. Otherwise, men look at the word anorexia and think it only applies to females. It may be a bit sexist, but it's to keep guys from thinking "I can't have anorexia, that's only for chicks. I'm just trying to get fit."
The use of "manorexia" will get phased out, don't worry people. Sheesh.

'Manorexia' does nothing to raise awareness...it simply makes male eating disorders seem weird or less serious then females with eating disorders. No guy with an eating disorder is going to hear that term and think 'Gee, I could get help now! I just have manorexia.' They're going to cover up their disorder even more because they're ashamed.
Disordred eating is disordered eating. Eating disorders are eating disorders. They don't know sex or gender.
