This video shows the necessary steps after pigs are born. It is necessary to give them shots to prevent iron deficiency, to clip their eyeteeth to prevent them from growing long and sharp, to tag their ears for identification, and to castrate the males to make the meat taste better. This video is slightly graphic and is not for the faint of heart.

  • You guys think it's so bad, it's really no different than a boy being circumcised. I castrate pigs on a daily basis.

  • This is atrocious even if it is young enough to not remember this later on in life. All of these procedures (with the exception of the shots) can be done with local anesthetics later on. Hell, even dogs get treated better when they have their ears or tails done and are always under anesthesia when castrated.
