Norwegian and Swedish are very similar, too, yet they're considered different languages. Boundaries between languages and dialects are not as easy to enstablish as you seem to think - as a matter of fact, geographical factors have very little to do with them. (e.g.: as a standard Italian speaker, Spanish is much easier to understand than most Italian dialects.)

Who cares if it's a dialect or it's own language... Okinawa is JAPAN and okinawan people are Japanese so Okinawan language = Japanese

Okinawan Hogen> no, it's okinawago, the language of Okinawa and not a dialect. 沖縄方言>沖縄語

He is an Amerasian orphan born and raised in Okinawa. His mother is Okinawan and father is a U.S. serviceman stationed in Okinawa. He was abondoned by them when he was a baby.
