Race Relations in Urumqi Face Uncertain Future

Tensions still remain between Han Chinese and Uighur Muslims following last week's violence in Urumqi, the capital of China's far-western Xinjiang region. Chinese authorities say 184 people were killed in the unrest, 137 of them were ethnic Han. Some Han and Uighur people insist the riots were an aberration in an otherwise harmonious interracial city. But other Uighurs accuse authorities of longstanding discrimination against ethnic minority Muslims. Alison Klayman has this report from Urumqi.

Uighurs aren't yellow, they're Caucasian by race (Tocharians). They've a small admixture with Yellows.

Only Uighurs should be checked for identity? how fair? Of course no one dares to say how much they are pressured under China if they could just be arrested for wearing scarf and beard, how silly is that? Just free Uighurs and Tibetans

actually all ethics can be friends, now we can see a lot inter-racial marriage relatioships so why we blame on each other based on the ethic background. every ethic group have good ppl and some bad ass, we cant just pick on the a small group people and generalise they are bad, china is big country have 56 ethics and have over 1.3bil ppl, we are all brothers. i also hope ppl from other country undestand all chinese ppl are one family regard the ethnic background. PS; im half Han and half Uyghur.
