Maybe, Paul Rand with all his undoubted creativity is very structured in his work, for he has a certain goal for everything, simplictiy, clear perception of a logo, usabilty etc. David Carson is somehow maybe an artist, who is hyped as a designer with no reason (for me).
paul rand was somewhat like this with his early works, and then he realised grid and structure works for him, so he resigned himself to formality after years of experience.
Paul Rand is a good example for someone doing serious business, this is one of the "good guys". And it's not like I'm mad at David Carsaon, I just don't get the hype and I put my emphasis on that being my personal opinion. So for all 40 people who thinks DC is a great guy, there must be 1 person to actually question what the fuss is all about. It is nothing personal - let him be famous and rich, but I just don't like his work, it's nearly useless.
...so...basically...you're mad that Carson is "famous" for doing something that you could easily do, yet you're still a "nobody". HAH.
Not all designers are teenybopper fans of the flavors of the week. Some of us actually base our admiration for another designer's work based on its functionality and/or its impact.
Its not Carson's fault that he was one of the people really pushing that "functional chaos" style. Are you gonna shit on Paul Rand for pioneering simplistic Swiss design in America?
Absolutely, and there is a shitload of those people out there, just satisfying the need for some fashion. I'd compare it to lady Gaga, famous but crap. Ups, did I touch your feelings again?
If it's so easy to become a "design hero" in the simplistic way you put it, then there should be shitloads of 'design heroes' out there. After all: anybody can "just cut some crap together", right?
In what year are these videos? Are they edited in some support or just online? Thank you!
