A comparison between my old Delonghi grinder and my new Sunbeam EM0480 grinder.
Results:
Sunbeam - Very consistant. Created a few course grinds but those were very regular in size and shape.
Delonghi - Inconsistant. Created fewer course grinds but they were of all different shapes and sizes. Some quite large flakes were present.

The sunbeam grinder allows you much more control of your flow. By allowing big flakes through the grind, the Delonghi creates weak points in the pack which compromise your flow rates and make your extraction unpredicatable.

  • yes i have dilogni espresso grinder now for long cost me 74 dollers not that model when i put on espresso setting grind it cums out little coures why is that help me can i fix that

  • You may be able to make it finer if you follwo the mods in my modification video. Apart from that there is not much you can do.

  • how do i modifi it tell me

  • Wetandwild123.

I have sent you a video showing you how to do it. Hope it helps.

  • What does the sieve prove? How can you have consistency between the two if you've got 2 different grind settings on 2 different grinders.

  • I agree that it was never going to be completely even because it is 2 different grinders. What it allowed me to do was to seperate the course grinds from the 2. I was able to see that the grinds from the Delonghi were more varied than those from the Sunbeam. The Delonghi had flakes that were about 5 times the size of the smallest course ground it produced. There was a lot of them also, not just 1 or 2. So while the sieve proved nothing, it allowed me to see why the Sunbeam is a better grinder.

  • thanks for posting. once the mod is done, can it still grind coarse enough for french press?

  • This experiment is open to experimenter bias.

  • Yes... at about 3 times the price.. Hehehe

  • I'll just have to take your word for it. I got rid of the Sunbeam grinder a longgggg time ago. Replaced with a Mazzer.
