This break-up really upsets me, Neela found out from Archie about Simons abusive past, she totally used it as an excuse to break up with him that he didnt tell her, she didnt even try and help him, she thought him not telling her was a fault in the relationship, was v upset at the writing in this episode, Brenner is a beautiful person and David Lyons did an amazin job on ER with him xx

I can see your point of view but trust me, it's very hard to have a relationship of any kind with people who choose to live in denial and refuse to confront the wounds of their past. The break-up was written this way because there were Ray and some loose ends to tie up. However, if there were no long-time pining boy waiting for Neela, I'm quite sure they would have been back together once Simon has dealt with what happened to him. See Cristina&Owen in Grey's Anat.

in re-watching this, while i do think that she belongs with ray, this was actually a horrible way to break up with simon. seriously, who finds out that her boyfriend was molested as a child and then makes the entire situation about herself? just incredibly self-centered. a good girlfriend would have seen how much he is hurting and how this trauma is still affecting him and would then understand why he doesn't want to talk about it.
