Art-iz-Us was a happening on London Bridge on 29 May 1998 which was arranged by Anthony Samuelson. Samuelson himself was too old to be eligible for the Turner Prize (cut-off: age 50) but he was able to nominate nearly 400 commuters walking across the Bridge to their offices in the City for the Prize. The Happening did not, however, make it to the 1998 Turner Prize short list. 1998 was the year of Chris Ofili's Madonna of the Elephant Dung. The YouTube Movie is a slightly shortened version of one made at the time to support the application. There are thirty hours of uncut footage awaiting a producer interested in making a TV feature of the Happening. Not counting what resulted from the efforts of a film crew sent to the Bridge that day on behalf of an American stock footage library! The film is dedicated to them and to the memory of Anthony Samuelson's late wife Carol who can be seen in some shots.
