Well, you are not alone! Most people ( 99%) find they learn a piece more quickly by memorizing before even trying to decipher musical code. I did not learn how to sight-read well until I was an adult. Most of my students struggle , but know it takes a lot of patience.

Yes, but I'm still learning. I've got this problem that I'm too lazy to properly learn to read notes. So when I get my hands on a song I want to learn, I keep checking which note where on the piano (I have this mini booklet) and simply learn the song then of by heart. But that way of playing isn't going to last long! I find it hard to quickly look at a music sheet and instantly play the notes (like you in this video)

I want to get down to learning these holidays!

Never let sight reading get in the way of learning great music. Don't give up on it either! It is so worth knowing how to do! :) My problem is opposite : I sight-read so well that I have lost the ability to memorize quickly. ;o Happy practicing!
