---- CHANNEL 4 INVESTIGATE AUTOTUNER . Auto-Tune is a proprietary audio processor created by Antares Audio Technologies. Auto-Tune uses a phase vocoder to correct pitch in vocal and instrumental performances. It is used to disguise off-key inaccuracies and mistakes, and has allowed singers to perform perfectly tuned vocal tracks without the need of singing in tune. While its main purpose is to slightly bend sung pitches to the nearest true semitone (to the exact pitch of the nearest tone in traditional equal temperament), Auto-Tune can be used as an effect to distort the human voice when pitch is raised/lowered significantly. The X Factor is a British television singing competition contested by aspiring singers drawn from public auditions. It is the originator of the international X Factor franchise. The six series of the show to date have aired from August/September through to December. The show is produced by FremantleMedia's talkbackTHAMES and Simon Cowell's production company SYCOtv. The "X Factor" of the title refers to the undefinable "something" that makes for star quality.[1] The show is broadcast on the ITV network . — Copyright Disclaimer Under Section 107 of the Copyright Act 1976, allowance is made for "fair use" for purposes such as criticism, comment, news reporting, teaching, scholarship, and research. • Autotune doesnt make u a good voice, just tunes the pitch. If you're a bad singer, auto tune wont make a difference. Trust me, i've tried it already !! Doesnt make any miracles :)

  • you cant autotune the audience's reaction.

  • @K1ngD35 you may not be able to autotune the reaction but i have been to the auditions and they film the audience clapping during the intermission and put it into the show afterwords

  • anyone else think that it dosebt sound anyway better ??? O_o

  • @fallencmd depends on what kind of autotune/pitch correction. and the correct pitch is the main thing about singing besides emotion. to correct something is always ok, but not in this case, it's a competition and a part of the jury, the audience, gets fooled with this. sure, if you sound like shit, there is nothing you can do, but the technology has evolved a LOT. and for some voices there are even miracles possible.

  • The people queuing aren't auditioning, the auditioners are pre-assessed, the comments are scripted, the format is manipulative (people put out and brought back, bad contestants deliberately put through), the voting is rigged and the audio is tampered with. Could the show be more corrupt or rotten?

  • i would use auto tune for funn but not on a frikken audition

  • Lol at Jon snow on his bike! PMSL

  • Thumbs up if you have your own Auto-tune Evo VST.

  • @fallencmd If you know how to work Auto-Tune at a professional level, you can use it to tweak the voice to make it sound better depending on where the singer as weak-spots.

  • haha this reporter's a legend to deliberately sing off-key :'D

  • How can he say Gamu's voice was noticably better post auto-tune and then not demonstrate such a bold claim by offering a recording of her voice without it? We're supposed to take this dufus' word for it? Personally, I didn't think he sounded any better auto-tuned at all. That was him hearing what he wanted and expected to hear. What a dumbass. Having said that, X-factor DEFINITELY should not be auto-tuning. That's cheating and fake.
