A short demonstration of 3 over 2 modulation. For an analysis on the concept check out the lesson page on my website.

  • at 1:30 it reminds me of Tain's groove on Wynton's April in Paris...

  • @lotsofgreendrums Well spotted! This is the rhythmic device they use for that arrangement

  • so it goes from triplets to 3/16?

  • @allmetaliswelcome No I put 3 over 2 or 6 beats over 4. Then their grouped in 2's so sound like it's a faster tempo, while still relating to the original. If you check out the metric modulation lesson on my website, there is a better explanation of how it works. Thanks for asking.

  • @conorguil yes i know how metric modulation works, but i didn't read the 2 over 3 part (which is kinda dumb (: ), but so you take quarter note triplets as your new quarter note?

  • @allmetaliswelcome Yes exactly :-)
