@tw69hands2 I always say...when Duran is in top condition and is 100% mentally and physically, he is a top 5 p for p alltime. As he got older, he only came into a fight a few times 100% ready. Barkley was one of those times, Hearns wasn't, Leonard 3 wasn't, Camacho 1 he was and he won that fight but they gave it to Hector. Even against Hagler, Roberto wasn't 100% but still went the distance. Late in his career, Duran didn't want to train. When he did, he was still a very good fighter
HEARNS ALWAYS BEAT DURAN, STYLES MAKE FIGHT, DURAN WAS MADE FOR HEARNS LIKE FLOYD AND MANNY TODAY WOULD BE. DURAN P4P GREATEST LIGHTWEIGHT BUT P4P BEST EVER, HELL NO, SUGAR RAY ROBINSON, ONLY A MORON SAYS OTHERWISE, MOST PEOPLE HERE OR DISAGREE HAVE PROBABLY NEVER LACED UP BEFORE
@blite13 "Duran is my favorite" -- I think that might be what's bending your revisionist thinking (?). But anyway, you've expressed your view, I've expressed mine. Two great KO's, let's leave it at that.
@pnutbutrncrackers Oh come on, Did anyone think Roberto was at the level he was when he fought Hearns compared to fighting Leonard in Montreal? Not even close. Duran is my favorite and I knew his chances were slim and none. When I saw him enter the ring, he didn't look in top shape, mentally or physically. So Duran was way past his prime by that point, not even close.
@blite13 "Hindsight is 20/20" applies to your comments. It's easy to go back and say all that about Duran after the way Hearns obliterated him. Truth is that RD had recently beaten Pipino Cuevas and given Marvin Hagler a great 15-round challenge. Nobody would've called Duran washed-up before this fight, and nobody saw this destruction coming. Not to mention that he (RD) went on after this loss to win the title again (five years later) and fight 30+ more times. Still my #1 Hitman KO.
@88andizzle It's only yelling if you interpret it that way.

@blite13:
But then 5 years later Duran beats Iran Barkley, a man who beat Hearns twice, once by knockout. Now figure that one out.

@B04Jordan I agree. Hearns is a horrible style match up for Duran.
