I hesitated a lot before uploading this clip cause I think it crosses some of my personal limits of what can/can't be uploaded but hey, I am in a good mood today. The clip stirred lots of discussions throughout the Sudanese cyber world cause unlike what the brides of the Nile are portraying the dance to be, your average Sudanese considers these kind of dances private and itimate dances (not cultural) performed in confined intimate environments for a selected group of people. I believe this kind of dance can only be found in the Northern Sudanese culture, some say it originated from old Egyptians and Nubians. The dance is not too popular nowadays and most families that holds the ceremony limits the audiences to females only, I guess you all know why, don't you?

  • Mashallah girls, you did an awesome job portraying our alluring and for me forever fascinating cultural dance. As for all the negative comments your getting from people........well i dont really get it!! If they're so against it then i have a solution for them - DONT WATCH IT!!

  • Beautiful dancing!

Question from an outsider (from Eritrea specifically); why is dance & elaborate/elegant movement of the body so looked down upon in the Horn? Some movements here remind me of the bejas in Eritrea (Hidarebs, Harendoa, etc.), and it's beautiful to me. It IS our culture(s) and has always been. But a lot of ppl get fanatically mad about it.

*shrugs* to me it's just the art to dancing & being proud of your culture.

  • Mashallah i love being sudanese, our traditions and culture. its amazing. Hopefully im gonna get taught this for my wedding.

  • I LOVE IT,, its beautiful.

  • they usually wear more "sexier" clothes than this lol xD but this is in front of a audience soo :P

  • this dance is cool i actually witnessed it live 2 months ago when my cousin got married in sudan... she did a really good job better than these girls

  • What has been shown is a new style of dance and perhaps it would have been good if the dancers were a bit better, however to portray it as a typical traditional dance is inaccurate. The bridal dance is a solo performance and would have been nice to preserve that.

Saying that it is nice to see such innovative attempt to come up with new styles based on traditional dances and am sure all with agree that with the rich and diverse cultures of the country there are plenty of opportunities.

  • yes they could be sudanese girls, but the hair definitely an extension, btw not all sudanese girls are ugly nor all are beautiful,so its better if we discuss more about the culture.

    thanks for uploading

  • SINGLE LADIES O_O (( BEYONCE U STOLE IT )) KEKEKEKEKE

  • mashaallah may god give and happy life and bright future

  • @rtoriq btw I'm pretty sure the Beja tribe is a tribe that extends from sudan to Ethiopia and Eritria. In general, all east African cultures are pretty similar
