they called the mien people of china yao and it means Barbarian, just for living in the mountains. which doesnt make sense since the chinese fored them to move their any ways O_o when their kingdom got taken over by the other chinese people.

Hi iprep87:
one more thing, there are over 50 ethnic minority groups in China, and Mien and hmong are just two out of the bunch. It wouldn't be right for me or you to say any of the groups are under mine or your group's cultural branch. You just can't simply say hmong is the overarching cultural branch for these ethnic groups. It's like saying every group doesn't have their own culture when in reality they really do have distinct cultures unparallell to hmong.

Thanks

Hi iprep87:
I am Mien (aka Yao which is the name used to refer to Mien people in China). I think for the hmong, miao is the term used in China to refer to them? I may be wrong.

Mien is not a part of the hmong cultural branch and do not fall under the some sub-group of hmong. Rather they fall under the same catergory as ethnic minorities of China...Mien and Hmong are quite different, please don't wrongfully assume hmong as the overarching category for ethnic groups in China.
