July 16th, 2009: We're 3 weeks away from Bonneville and we have been working with Bill Burke and his son Steve Burke to recreate the first belly tank that ran on the dry lakes in 1946. Bill Burke was the first person to create a belly tank streamliner and he ran just over 131 mph with a 1939 Ford Flathead and 3 speed speed transmission installed. We're taking the finished streamliner to Bonneville starting August 7th, 2009 to reunite Bill with the Belly Tank in this video - one built to replicate Burke's first belly tank and to honor his achievements from the early (and all days) of hot rodding. The build team that made this possible is Ted Kemgens and Tom Bambard of Darby Florida who own and operate "Creative Motion Concepts" just north of Tampa Florida. Way to go Ted and Tom!!!
